How to replace a Siemens dishwasher door seal
A worn door seal causes water leaks and poor cleaning performance. This replacement takes 15 minutes and requires no tools.
Step-by-step
- 1
Turn off the dishwasher
Switch off the appliance at the wall socket and wait 2 minutes for any residual moisture to settle.
- 2
Open the door fully
Pull the door open completely so you can access the seal channel on both the left and right sides. Look for the rubber gasket running along the door frame.
💡 Fully open doors reduce strain on hinges during removal.
- 3
Locate the seal clips
Find the clips or tabs holding the old seal in place. On most Siemens models, these are located at the top corners and along the bottom edge of the door frame.
- 4
Remove the old seal
Gently pull the old seal out of its channel, starting from one corner. The seal should slide out smoothly without resistance.
💡 If stuck, warm the seal slightly with a hairdryer to soften the rubber.
- 5
Clean the seal channel
Wipe the empty channel with a damp cloth to remove any debris, mould, or residue. Allow it to dry completely before fitting the new seal.
💡 Clean channels prevent premature wear of the new seal.
- 6
Insert the new seal
Press the new Siemens seal firmly into the channel, starting from the top corner. Work your way around the entire door frame, ensuring it sits flush in the groove.
💡 Use gentle pressure—the seal should click or sit naturally into place.
- 7
Check the seal alignment
Close the door slowly and listen for any unusual sounds. Open it again and visually inspect that the seal is evenly seated all the way around with no gaps or twists.
- 8
Run a test cycle
Fill the detergent dispenser and run a short wash cycle on 40°C. Check for any water leaks around the door frame during operation.
💡 Test on a short cycle to confirm the seal works before running full loads.
