Why is my Electrolux dishwasher leaking?
Dishwasher leaks can damage your kitchen floor and waste water. Most leaks come from worn seals, blocked drainage, or loose connections. Follow these steps to identify the source and fix it.
Most likely causes
- 35% The rubber gasket around the door deteriorates over time, allowing water to escape during the wash cycle.
- 30% Debris clogs the drain hose or it gets twisted, forcing water to back up and leak from underneath.
- 20% The water inlet hose connection becomes loose or the valve fails, leaking water into the base.
- 15% Cracks in the plastic tub or damage to the pump seal allow water to leak into the base cabinet.
How to diagnose it
- 1
Identify where water exits
Run a short cycle and observe if water leaks from the door, underneath, or the sides. This narrows down the cause. Take notes on timing: does it leak immediately or mid-cycle?
- 2
Inspect the door seal carefully
Open the door fully and look at the rubber gasket around all edges. Feel for cracks, hardening, or visible gaps. Replace it if damaged.
- 3
Check the drain hose routing
Pull the dishwasher out slightly and locate the drain hose at the back. Look for kinks, cracks, or disconnections. Straighten any kinks and ensure it connects firmly.
- 4
Inspect inlet hose connections
Check where the water inlet hose connects to the back of the unit. Tighten by hand first, then use a spanner if needed. Look for cracks in the hose itself.
- 5
Run a test cycle empty
Load nothing in the dishwasher and run a short wash cycle. Listen for unusual sounds and check underneath for leaks. This confirms if the issue persists.
- 6
Check the pump seal if needed
If leak persists, the pump seal or wash tub may be cracked. Contact Electrolux support or call a technician for internal component inspection.
