How to clean a Bosch washing machine drum
Regular drum cleaning prevents mould, odours, and detergent residue. Clean your Bosch machine monthly or every 4-6 weeks for best results.
Step-by-step
- 1
Empty the washing machine
Remove any clothes or items from the drum. Check the rubber seal for trapped debris or foreign objects.
💡 Look inside the rubber gasket as fibres often collect there.
- 2
Run a hot water cycle
Select 60°C or higher temperature cycle with no wash load. Add 100ml white vinegar or commercial washing machine cleaner to the detergent dispenser.
💡 Use Bosch-compatible cleaner like Finish or Dr. Beckmann for optimal results.
- 3
Wipe the rubber gasket
When the cycle finishes, pull back the rubber seal and wipe along the groove with a damp cloth. Remove any black residue or mould spots.
💡 Work around the entire seal—mould hides in the folds.
- 4
Clean the detergent drawer
Slide out the drawer fully and rinse under warm water. Use an old toothbrush to scrub the compartments where detergent builds up.
💡 Detergent residue blocks the dispenser and reduces cleaning performance.
- 5
Dry the drum interior
Leave the door open for 2-3 hours to air dry completely. This prevents mould growth between cleaning cycles.
💡 Open the door after each wash to allow moisture to escape naturally.
