How to fix AEG dishwasher i20 error code
The i20 error code indicates a water inlet valve or supply issue. Your dishwasher cannot detect adequate water entering the machine. This guide helps you identify and resolve the problem quickly.
Most likely causes
- 45% Kinks, debris or mineral deposits prevent water flow into the machine.
- 35% The solenoid valve fails to open and allow water to enter.
- 15% Your mains water is off or the tap connection is loose.
- 5% The sensor cannot detect water level even though water enters normally.
How to diagnose it
- 1
Check water supply tap
Locate the tap under your sink feeding the dishwasher. Turn it fully clockwise to open, then check if water flows from the hose connection point. If no water appears, the supply is cut off.
- 2
Inspect inlet hose visibly
Pull the dishwasher out gently. Look along the inlet hose from the tap to the machine for kinks, cracks or obvious blockages. Straighten any kinks and check both ends are tight.
- 3
Disconnect and flush hose
Turn off the water tap. Unscrew both ends of the inlet hose. Hold it over a bucket and turn the tap on briefly to flush out debris. Reconnect securely.
- 4
Check inlet valve screen
Find the inlet valve where the hose enters the machine (usually bottom left). Unscrew and remove the small mesh filter inside. Rinse it under warm water to remove limescale or debris, then reinstall.
- 5
Run diagnostic test cycle
Close the door and press and hold the start button for 3 seconds to enter test mode. Select the rinse cycle and let it run. If water flows and error clears, the problem is resolved.
- 6
Contact AEG support
If the error persists after these checks, the inlet valve or pressure sensor likely needs replacement. Call AEG or arrange an engineer visit as these require specialist tools.
