How to clean your Bosch dishwasher filter
A dirty filter reduces cleaning power and causes odours. Clean it monthly to keep your dishwasher running efficiently.
Step-by-step
- 1
Empty the dishwasher completely
Remove all dishes and utensils. Make sure the dishwasher is empty before you start.
- 2
Locate the filter assembly
Open the dishwasher door and look at the bottom. The filter is usually in the rear corner of the wash chamber.
💡 Consult your user manual if you cannot find it easily.
- 3
Remove the coarse filter
Grasp the coarse filter basket and twist it anticlockwise. Pull it upwards to remove it from the filter housing.
💡 The coarse filter traps large food particles and is easiest to clean first.
- 4
Rinse under running water
Hold the coarse filter under warm tap water. Use your fingers or a soft brush to remove trapped food debris.
💡 Avoid harsh scrubbing as it can damage the filter mesh.
- 5
Remove the fine filter
Locate the fine filter beneath the coarse filter. Pull the handle upwards and twist anticlockwise to release it.
💡 This filter is more delicate; handle it carefully.
- 6
Clean the fine filter
Rinse under warm water and use a soft brush on both sides. Remove any grease or stubborn particles gently.
💡 For stubborn deposits, soak the fine filter in warm water for 10 minutes first.
- 7
Check the filter housing
Inspect the filter chamber for any remaining debris. Wipe it clean with a damp cloth.
💡 Remove any food bits that may have settled in the bottom of the chamber.
- 8
Reassemble the filters
Insert the fine filter first and twist clockwise until secure. Place the coarse filter on top and twist clockwise until it clicks into place.
💡 Both filters must be firmly locked or water may leak around them.
