How to clean your AEG dishwasher filter

Step-by-step

Stop the dishwasher
Press the stop button or open the door mid-cycle. Wait 2 minutes for water to drain completely.

Remove the lower basket
Pull the bottom rack straight towards you until it stops. Lift and set aside on a clean surface.

Locate the filter assembly
Look at the bottom of the dishwasher tub. You'll see a cylindrical filter basket with a handle on top.

Twist and lift filter out
Grip the filter handle and twist anticlockwise one quarter turn. Lift straight up to remove the entire filter assembly.

Rinse under warm water
Hold the filter under running warm water. Use your fingers to gently rub away debris from the mesh.

Scrub stubborn residue
Use an old toothbrush to scrub the mesh gently. Focus on the base where most debris collects.

Replace the filter
Insert the clean filter back into its slot at the bottom. Twist clockwise until it locks into place.

Reinstall the basket
Slide the lower basket back in until it clicks into position. Check that it moves freely before closing the door.

Run a rinse cycle
Close the door and start a rinse cycle without dishes. This clears any remaining particles from the tub.
